Ono Ramen is a Japanese-Indonesian fusion ramen concept nestled in the heart of Kampong Gelam, born from the same creative mind behind popular bakmi restaurant Kulon. Founded by Haris Ahmad, the restaurant is a lifelong passion project — one that brings together his deep-rooted love for Indonesian flavours and his admiration for the craft of Japanese ramen.
The menu is concise and focused, with ramen bowls built on a slow-cooked chicken broth that simmers overnight, infused with homemade rempah in place of the traditional tare. Each bowl is then differentiated by its spice paste — tauto for the beef, gulai for the chicken — giving every option a distinctly Indonesian character while honouring the five foundational elements of ramen. Prices are kept friendly, with everything under S$15. The cosy, self-service setup is dotted with cat figurines, a nod to the founder's personal touch, making it a charming spot for a hearty, flavour-packed meal.
