Penny University

Penny University is a specialty coffeehouse and roastery that opened in 2012, starting out with a community focus and a simple aim of serving really good coffee. Many of its first customers are still regulars today. Over the years it has grown into a full service cafe, with brunch served from 8 am to 4 pm and a bistronomy style menu in the evenings.

The brunch list leans on eggs done several ways. Think Turkish Eggs with whipped Greek yoghurt and harissa, a Beef Cheeks Eggs Benedict with rich jus, or Penny's Benedict with smoked salmon, avocado and beetroot hollandaise. If you have a sweet tooth, the brioche French Toast with spiced apples and berry compote is a good bet, and there is a large cake selection too. Free wifi and a cosy setting make it easy to settle in for a long catch up or a laptop session. Takeaways and deliveries are available, so it works for a quiet coffee run as well as a relaxed weekend brunch with friends and family.
